The Foreign Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia BujarOsmani today met with Georg Woutsas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of North Macedonia following the recent tragic events and horrific murders in Vienna. At the meeting, Osmani conveyed the support of the Republic of North Macedonia for Austria in dealing with yesterday’s act of terrorism, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and the affected, and relaying wishes for speedy recovery of the injured.
Osmani said that in several instances, and at several levels, the highest representatives of the country expressed firm and uncompromising condemnation of this terrorist act. Furthermore, on this occasion, Osmani stated that there is no tolerance and justification for radical Islam and all forms of extremism.
“We strongly condemn last night’s terrorist attack in Vienna and we share the pain with our Austrian and European friends. Terrorism knows no nation or origin, and we strongly condemn this terrorist act regardless of who committed it. What is most important now is to show solidarity and coordination in the joint response to this evil, which is detrimental to tolerance and threatens to create discord between Europe and other parts of the world. The response should be unanimous and decisive, the solidarity of Europe is key in these moments of protection of our democracies” – emphasized Osmani, noting that the Republic of North Macedonia, both as a member of NATO and as a candidate country for membership in the European Union actively contributes to the international coalition for combatting terrorism of any kind.
At the meeting, Osmani expressed complete readiness of our security structures for active cooperation with the security organs of Austria and Europol.
“Given the information that has appeared regarding possible dual citizenship of some of the attackers, I have received confirmation from our security structures that they are fully at disposal for the needs of Austria’s law enforcement agencies, as well as Europol. North Macedonia will unreservedly strive for tackling and suppressing such and any other types of terrorism and violence against innocent people that threaten the stability and democracy of Europe, and violate its fundamental values and principles”, emphasized Osmani, voicing assurance for full cooperation and open support from our country in closing the case and bringing the attackers before the court of justice.
